1. Who can become a mentor in the Power of Community programme?

A mentor can be a graduate of Lodz University of Technology with at least 5 years of professional experience who wants to support students in their personal and professional development. Mentor candidates must have the skills and willingness to share knowledge and successfully complete the verification process conducted by the Careers Office.

2. What are the benefits of participating in the programme as a mentor?

The role of a mentor is an opportunity to share knowledge and experience, develop interpersonal skills, and build relationships with young, ambitious students. Mentoring is also an opportunity to return to the academic environment, participate in Lodz University of Technology community and gain satisfaction from influencing the development of younger generations.

3. What does the mentor recruitment process look like?

To become a Mentor, please contact the Careers Office, which will send you an application form. After completing the form and sending it to the Careers Office, your application will be verified in terms of experience and competencies. After positive verification, the candidate is invited to participate in the programme as a Mentor.

4. How long does the mentoring programme last?

The programme runs from December 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025. During this time, Mentors and Mentees complete a minimum of 6 hours of mentoring sessions, but the schedule and frequency of meetings are flexible and determined individually by each mentoring pair.

5. What are the expectations for Mentors?

Mentors are required to actively participate in the programme, including regular contact with mentees and supporting them in achieving their goals. Mentors are expected to share their knowledge and experience, adapting the collaboration to the individual needs of the mentee. Additionally, Mentors should maintain the confidentiality of information obtained during the programme and participate in the programme evaluation after its completion.

Mentors are also required to attend the Programme Launch and End of Programme Gala in person, which are key events that strengthen the bonds within our mentoring community.

6. Do I have to meet my mentee in person?

Meetings can take place either in person or online – it depends on the preferences of the Mentor and Mentee. Thanks to the mentoring application, participants have the flexibility of choice, which allows them to conveniently set dates and forms of meetings according to their availability.

7. How much time do I need to devote to the programme?

The minimum time planned for cooperation with a mentee is 6 hours of mentoring sessions, however, details regarding the frequency and length of meetings are determined by the Mentor together with the Mentee. The programme has been designed to be flexible and can be adjusted to the availability of Mentors.

8. What if I am unable to continue with the programme?

If for important reasons you are unable to continue working with us, please inform the Careers Office. We try to support mentors and, whenever possible, look for solutions.

9. Can I support more than one Mentee?

Yes, Mentors may apply to work with more than one Mentee, as availability and preferences allow. The decision to assign a larger number of Mentees is made in conjunction with the Careers Office at the recruitment stage.
